The Straz Center has begun its search for an HR Specialist – HRIS & Benefits. This position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and is responsible for assisting and facilitating the benefits and administration. Also provides support in a variety of HR functions including HRIS, data entry, and HR/Payroll support.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing Open Enrollment and ongoing benefit plan administration – scheduling and coordinating various employee meetings, including open enrollment, wellness committee meetings, and annual health fair.
- Supports benefits open enrollment by processing inputting data into system, tracking, and following up on missing paperwork.
- Assists with benefit plan design with Senior Director of Human Resources.
- Processes new hires and terminated employees in benefit systems.
- Partners with broker on concerns and questions from employees.
- Serves as the back-up to payroll processing.
- Assists payroll with direct deposit changes and issuance of pay cards.
- Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments.
- Supports HR Director and Payroll team on projects, as needed.
- Sets up and maintains files – electronic and hard copy as needed.
- Receives and processes Workers Compensation incident reports.
- Reports incidents to external claims administrator.
- Monitors and follow up on claims to ensure accurate and timely processing, recording, and reporting on claims.
- Processes Unemployment Claims through third party.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as well as sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to function both independently and as part of a team in a multi-task environment.
- Some experience with either Payroll processing or bookkeeping preferred
- Familiarity with Paylocity HRIS system preferred but not required.
- Some experience in a comparable HRIS/Payroll system required.
- Basic familiarity with employment law.
- Strong planning and organization skills.
- High level of attention to detail required.
- Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. High level of proficiency required in Excel specifically.
Education and Work Experience:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience.
- HR or Payroll certification a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years related experience.
