Benchmark International Company Sales Specialist is looking for driven students to serve as summer or single semester interns with its Deal Origination team in Tampa, Florida. As a Deal Origination Intern, you will be a part of this busy office. The Intern will collect, analyze, summarize, and discuss data of companies preparing our generation team to find potential clients. Pulling key attributes such as ownership, size of the employee base and other corporate documents; the Intern will learn how to identify potential prospects and target key high growth industries. Benchmark will work with you to determine your hourly commitment to the internship but minimum involvement will be for 10 hours per week, on a regularly scheduled basis, for a period of at least 8 weeks.
Job Responsibilities
As an Intern, you will act under the instruction of and be trained by Benchmark International?s experienced Marketing and Business Intelligence Senior Associates, with combined experience of over 40 years in the M&A markets.
Your specific duties as an Intern will include:
- Assisting associates in preparation of data lists, primarily through desk research and assembling lists of potential sellers
- In depth research of companies focusing on appropriate ownership and contact details by cross referencing corporate records and websites
- Analyzing corporate records to understand the financial health of a company
- Find methods of contacting potential sellers and inviting them to entertain a meeting with Benchmark International
- Help to create invitation techniques and overall awareness of Benchmark International
- Filing and keeping Benchmark International?s networked customer resource management system up to date for all of the above
- Compiling data using proprietary databases including Pitchbook and FirstResearch
- Communicating effectively with the origination team to ensure the appropriate data is delivered in a timely fashion
- Researching industries and M&A market segments
- Preparing reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text
- Abiding by all Benchmark International policies

As an Intern, you must be highly energetic and passionate individual with a positive and highly motivated ‘can do’ attitude. You must have the strong desire and ambition to succeed in this hugely rewarding industry. It is also vital for your role as an Intern that you possess excellent verbal and written communication, analytic, mathematical, and interpersonal skills as well as presentation abilities. Specific qualifications for our Intern position include:
- Proficient in Excel
- Prioritization and organization skills
- Proficient with online research including proprietary sources such as Hoovers, IBISWorld, DealNexus, PrivCo, Corpfin, Pitchbook, OneSource, and First Research
- Knowledgeable about professional business writing
- Communication skills: written and verbal; delivering information in an empathetic, yet persuasive manner
- Knowledgeable about professional business writing
- Commercial understanding and awareness of business
- Possess valid and current driver license
- No previous involuntary surrender of a real estate license in any state
- No personal history of enforcement actions by the Securities Exchange Commission, FINRA, or any state securities regulatory bodies
- Working toward bachelor’s or master’s degree with a concentration in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Accounting at an accredited university or college
Benefits
The position of Intern will give you detailed insights to a career in mergers and acquisitions. Work will be performed on an hourly basis at $10 per hour. In addition, Benchmark will work with you to secure academic credit should you so desire. This is a non-exempt position and overtime will be paid at statutory rates as required by applicable law; however, our Deal Origination Intern is highly encouraged to work only 40 hours per week and as a result overtime and overtime pay should not be expected.
