MacDill AFB in Tampa FL is looking for a Lead Storage Engineer. Active Top Secret clearance with SCI required.
Responsible for development and delivery of the technical storage solutions and business case for recording and storing enterprise data; includes developing “As is” diagrams and detailed technical design and development of “To Be” architectural solutions. Design and implement storage, backup, recovery, and data management solutions, to include recommending hardware components and platforms such as EMC, NetApp, Brocade, Cisco and Symantec.
Job Responsibilities:
– Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments
– Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements
– Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned
– Ensure full interoperability and a seamless connection between all internal and external systems to include, but not limited to NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and JWICS
– Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques
– Participates in special projects as required
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
– Minimum 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience.
– In-depth knowledge of SAN communications, protocols, and storage hardware to include EMC, NetApp, Brocade, Cisco and Symantec. Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of SAN protocols such as iSCSI, FC, VSAN, FCIP and FCoE to include the following:
– Strong understanding and practical experience with technologies like replication, zoning, switch configuration, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
– In-depth knowledge of management and design of storage area network, projects, and installation of new devices, systems and on-going maintenance of the infrastructure.
Candidate must be a self-disciplined, self-starter professional who can successfully bring projects to closure with minimum direction and oversight.
– 4+ years of experience in storage, backup, recovery and data management
– proven success in design and deployment of advanced computing and storage technologies
– Hands-on experience with storage and backup recovery technologies, both hardware and software, and ability to demonstrate expertise in this area
– Demonstrate data center technologies knowledge such as server, network, storage, and other components of end to end storage solutions
– Data systems expertise, including administration and architecture
– Data center application, data migration and consolidation
