The City of Tampa City Attorney’s office is currently seeking an Assistant City Attorney with experience in land use for its Land Use and Real Estate practice group.
The City of Tampa Attorney’s Office is a midsize in-house law firm located in one of America’s best places to live. We serve as the legal advisor to Tampa’s mayor, city council and all of the city’s departments, officers, and boards. Under the general direction of the City Attorney, the primary duties will consist of conducting legal research and preparing reports, memoranda and opinions on zoning, permitting, code enforcement compliance, permitting, variances, and other land use matters; preparing resolutions, ordinances, and other proposed legislation on land use matters; advising and assisting City officials and staff with land use matters; and attending quasi-judicial meetings of the city council and other administrative boards (e.g., code enforcement board, historic preservation boards, variance review board, etc.); may require attendance at meetings outside of normal working hours. Candidates must be highly motivated, solution-oriented, capable of managing assignments independently, and have excellent writing and communication skills. Preferred candidates should have a minimum of 2 to 3-years’ experience representing local government in general land use matters and in quasi-judicial hearings before administrative boards.
