Landscape maintenance manager position
Company description:
LeBel Landscaping is a commercial landscape maintenance and enhancement company. We currently maintain a $1 million dollar per year landscape maintenance portfolio along with a projected $3 million dollars in landscape enhancement and Arbor care for the 2020 year. We also provide landscape enhancement, arbor care, irrigation and drainage solutions to our customers. Our staff includes a state licensed irrigation contractor, Certified pest control operator and 2 certified arborists. Our credentials are unrivaled in the Tampa bay area. We maintain many high profile properties such as Zoo Tampa, The Florida Aquarium, Masonite wolrd headquarters, Arturo Feunte cigars and many more high end properties. We started operation in 2009 and have grown each year since. We service the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. Our maintenance division is concentrated in Hillsborough county. We currently employ
40 full time employees including managers, foreman, mechanic, office staff, and crew members.
We are growing at a fast pace and are looking for an energetic and hard working individual to manage and grow our maintenance division. We are looking to hire ASAP but will wait for the right candidate who can help take us to the next level.
Job title: Landscape maintenance division manager
Responsibilities of job:
– Responsible for approximately 1 million dollar per year landscape maintenance portfolio. 95% commercial and multi family properties. 14-19 full time employees for year 2020 depending on time of year.
– Quality control on all existing properties including physical maintenance, fertilization and pest control regimen, irrigation coverage and timing. Visit all properties on minimum monthly basis.
– Managing relationships with property managers, stakeholders, business owners, small amount of high net worth homeowners.
– Bidding and selling new maintenance accounts
– Review weekly payroll numbers with management team to analyze for savings and trends.
– Set up recurring billing for new accounts.
– Management of fertilization and pest control crew
– Hiring of new employees for maintenance division.
– Coordinating with in house mechanic and dealerships for repairs of maintenance equipment and trucks. Purchasing new equipment when needed.
– Collaborating on some improvement items when needed.
– Any other items needed to help other divisions effective operation.
Expected time input:
– 50 hours per week, 6:30AM-5AM daily Monday-Friday. 30 min-1hour lunch break. Manager must be at the shop every morning by 6:30 to supervise crews.
– Saturdays may be needed on occasion, but not normally. Saturdays will be an additional day of pay on the following weeks paycheck.
Effective Date:
– August 2020, exact date TBD. We are not in a rush as this is a crucial position and must have the correct candidate. Interview process may be 2-3 weeks.
Necessary skills and expierience:
– High energy leader who is adept at solving problems and is resourceful.
– Prior management of commercial landscape maintenance crews to service high end properties.
– Deep understanding of commercial landscape maintenance. Plant ID and troubleshooting.
– Work with people of all ethnicities. Basic understanding of Spanish or use of google translator may be needed.
– Experience in mixing chemicals and managing a spray route.
– Create schedules and understand timing of maintenance performance.
– Use QuickBooks, excel, create PDFs and word files, other basic computer tasks
– Ability to use a smart phone
– Ability to be able to pull a trailer with a ¾ and 1 ton trucks
– Basic mechanical understanding of trucks and landscape maintenance tools.
– Be able to run a sprinkler timer and inspect systems as needed. Minor repairs when inspecting properties.
– Figure out pest issues on properties and apply spot treatment during regular inspections.
– Understanding of contracts. Using our template to accurately bid large properties for maintenance
Bonus skills and experience:
– Bachelors degree or more
– Speak English and Spanish
– Arborist, CPO, FNGLA, irrigation contractor license etc certifications
– Use of LMN software
– Bringing pre-existing property manager relationships to the table.
– Prior experience with management of landscape enhancement projects.
– Use of CAD or landscape design software
Salary and benefits:
– starting pay $1300 per week. Paid on weekly basis
– Cell phone and lap top
– 2 weeks paid vacation. Vacation time can be used after 90 days. This can also be paid out as additional weeks of salary without use if desired.
– 1 week sick pay
– Any educational classes and expenses. Quickbooks, accounting, arborist certification etc
– Health insurance plan or stipend once this is implemented, approximately Q1 2021
– 401k plant. Implemented approximately late 2021-2022
Advancement:
– 90 day raise $50 per week
– Additional pay will be offered with growth of the landscape maintenance division.

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are mandatory when in office, at shop, and when employees ride together. 2/3 of your day will be spent outside or in a truck by yourself generally. 1/3 will be spent in the office. You need to be in good phsyical health for this position.
