JOB SUMMARY:
The Law Clerk will work with in-house counsel on a variety of legal tasks related to corporate law, in-house practice and insurance regulation. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience and training in the in-house corporate legal department of a New York Stock Exchange traded public corporation with subsidiaries operating in homeowner’s insurance, information technology, real estate and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with various legal research assignments, and writing legal memoranda
  • Assist in-house counsel with drafting and reviewing contracts, regulatory filings and related activities
  • Assist the legal team in daily tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent research and writing skills, as well as effective verbal communication skills
  • Some knowledge of corporate law and insurance law preferred
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-directed learner with the ability to learn quickly and pursue assignments with enthusiasm and focus
  • Desire to learn multiple facets of in-house representation.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Currently completing first year of law school, up through third year law school students
  • Maintaining a minimum (undergraduate) 3.0 GPA

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous legal work experience is a plus
