The legal assistant position is responsible for preparing and prioritizing documents and data on a daily basis supporting the processing functions of various departments within the firm. The position requires attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, above average data entry speed and accuracy, and good concentration levels. The Legal Assistant is held accountable for meeting specific production standards as set by the firm that reflect critical quality and success factors as defined by our clients, as well as the law firm and department management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and process data, documentation and reports from client systems.
  • Timely and accurately update internal and client systems.
  • Ensure that attorneys, management and clients are aware of the correct status of all pending tasks through proper use of the case management system.
  • Contribute to team effort through timely and accurate completion of tasks and assigned projects.
  • Add value to department and organization by seeking out additional tasks or participating in projects when the opportunity is available.
  • Communicate with clients professionally and courteously through written, verbal or electronic communications.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate problems and offer possible solutions.
  • Properly escalate developing issues to supervisory/managerial level as appropriate.
  • Assist management with firm wide projects as requested.
  • Adhere to production standards assessed for the assigned department and position.
  • Adhere to company policy and procedures of notifying HR Attendance line prior to your designated start time.
  • Production standards are subject to change based on efficiency improvements and/or evolving procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
  • Comprehend basic legal concepts
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks.

Training and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional Education desirable.
  • Related work experience desirable.

Conditions of Work:

  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to work hours as specified in work week schedule
  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Able to work on computers for a significant portion of the day

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour
