Legal Assistant – First Party Property/Homeowner’s

Our First Party Homeowner’s/Property house counsel organization has a new and exciting opportunity for a talented legal assistant. As a legal assistant on our team, you’ll handle complex tasks critical to the success of our law offices. Providing administrative support to our attorneys, you’ll handle preparation of intricate legal documents and correspondences such as Motions and Pleadings.

Relying on your previous litigation experience, you’ll maintain files, answer phones, process time sensitive mail, faxes and court notices, schedule meetings and manage attorney schedules.
Please note: This position can be based in Maitland, Tampa, or Miami, Florida.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Manage attorney calendar for depositions, client meetings and court appearances
  • Propounding discovery, discovery follow up, including serving client discovery
  • Prepare correspondences, pleadings, and motions
  • Schedule and coordinate Examination(s) with defense experts
  • Prepare legal documents such as contracts and complaints
  • Assist attorneys in preparing and filing and/or e-filing court papers
  • Processing mail, faxes and court notices
  • Draft settlement documents and coordinate closed file processes
  • Communicating with clients and claims to advise on relevant aspects of the case
  • Effectively working in a paperless environment
Must have qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year prior administrative/legal work experience in a business office environment supporting a professional team

  • Insurance defense or property/homeowner’s experience
  • Time management and organizational skills required to provide support to a large group of professionals
  • Typing skills with special attention to grammar and accuracy
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with a good working knowledge of the following software applications: Word, Excel, and Nuance/Adobe
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information
  • Listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
