Job Summary:

The Legal Assistant provides administrative support for the Legal organization performing a variety of legal, technical and administrative functions. Primarily responsible for administrative support of legal department, legal requests process, contracts processing and maintenance, corporate maintenance and record-keeping and legal invoicing. The successful candidate must exhibit a high level of professionalism at all times and understand the importance of keeping confidential information. Flexibility is ideal for this role as priorities will change and shift and this position needs to be resilient with change. This position must have the ability to work across and at all levels within the organization due to the legal department’s exposure throughout the company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administration of contracts; review of certain contracts and maintenance of templates
  • Prepare, organize and track all contracts and other legal files and documents
  • Develop, maintain, organize and update the Legal Department’s record keeping systems
  • Responds for basic inquiries regarding contract obligations
  • Corporate record-keeping and corporate secretary functions
  • Maintenance of minute books, support for board and committee meetings; organizational structure
  • Administration of real estate leases
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and outside parties and assist in responding to internal requests made to the Legal Department for assistance
  • Assist with litigation matters, including responding to subpoenas and requests for information
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-house legal experience

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent technology skills and high proficiency with all Microsoft Windows applications
  • Proficient with legal terms and procedures
  • Experience with or ability to learn and maximize the use of other available technology, including contract management and electronic billing systems
  • Strong working knowledge of contracts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
