Full Job Description

Job Summary: Legal Assistants should have the ability to work independently to ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney and section supervisor, to include; communication, preparation and review of legal documents, coordination of hearings, depositions and appointments, and organizing and maintaining files and electronic files.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Communicating with clients and court personnel; keep clients informed; communicating case progress; answering client questions
  • Coordination of depositions with multiple parties; coordinating out-of- county depositions, preparing subpoenas
  • Maintain attorney’s electronic calendar; setting appointments and hearings; updating hearings set by the court
  • Preparation of daily court calendars for attorneys
  • Supporting case preparation by maintaining electronic files, drafting motions, drafting and reviewing documents, filing pleadings
  • Assisting attorneys with trial preparation
  • Processing new case files
  • Close out old cases/files
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in education opportunities; reading professional publications
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferably experienced as an Administrative Assistant or Legal Assistant, but not necessary
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook and Word
  • Confidentiality; Client Confidentiality
  • Dependable
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads and keep deadlines
