JOB SUMMARY
The Legal Coordinator is responsible for providing corporate legal and administrative support and service to the Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment Legal Department (and support for other departments as needed) on a wide variety of issues and matters, including but not limited to corporate governance, legal operations, legal research, review and preparation of business contracts, corporate transactions and promotions, and assisting in managing litigation matters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform legal research; draft letters, memos and other communications
  • Assist with creation, revision and editing of legal documents and corporate agreements (such as sponsorship, suite and loge, waivers and releases, and arena operations and vendor agreements)
  • Draft, review and edit sweepstakes and raffle promotion rules and file registrations with the Florida DOA as appropriate
  • Perform analysis of relevant NHL rules, regulations, directives, and governance documents, review advertising and promotional material to ensure compliance
  • Review, in coordination with risk management personnel, arena related personal injury and property litigation threats and filed lawsuits; assist with all litigation matters
  • Responsible for litigation management and coordination with outside counsel and handling of all document production and discovery requests
  • Assist with filing, maintenance, and enforcement of organization-wide trademarks and other intellectual property matters
  • Oversee corporate record keeping and accurate document tracking via maintenance of databases and filing systems for all contracts, policies and legal documentation
  • Schedule and coordinate departmental appointments/meetings and maintain calendar, arrange business itineraries and travel plans
  • Manage various legal projects and deadlines as liaison to internal departments
  • Other general legal duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience; in-house experience in drafting and managing business contracts strongly preferred
  • Strong writing skills (contract drafting), analytical ability, negotiating and oral communication skills required
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on time management and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to be strategic and solution-oriented with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to establish effective client and interdepartmental relationships, and manage multiple projects
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle all situations with discretion, professionalism and confidentiality
  • Results driven with the ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling
