Library Assistant

Position Summary

White & Case LLP is seeking a Library Assistant. This position is responsible for providing library materials to the firm in a timely manner through the distribution and processing of print resources for the library collection.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains routing labels.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Processes and routes incoming print resources.
  • Checks material into serials module of library management system.
  • Maintains circulation and serials modules of library management system.
  • Maintains periodical collection according to retention policy.
  • Distributes mail and office copies.
  • Assists with book returns, missing material and compiling materials for filing.
  • Provides assistance to clientele by answering questions, retrieving and distributing materials, and making photocopies.
  • Works with other librarians and staff on special projects, as needed.
  • Handle administrative and other projects as assigned.
  • Oversees the Technical Services area in the absence of other team members.

Education/Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 to 2 Years of experience
  • BA/BS preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and additional hours needed to meet business needs.
  • Working knowledge of the nature of corporate law libraries’ functions, services, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard PC applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, E-mail, Internet and document management system software.
  • Basic familiarity with library management systems and call number assignment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Consistent accuracy and meticulous attention to detail while maintaining a very high level or productivity.
  • Strong service orientation with commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Solid interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, bend, climb, crouch and lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
