MURRAY, MORIN & HERMAN, P.A., an A/V rated Coral Gables/Tampa firm is seeking top notch paralegals for its Coral Gables and Tampa offices. 

The ideal PARALEGAL candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in insurance defense.  The candidate will be highly self-motivated, able to prioritize, be a team player and have the ability to work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment. Must have excellent written and communication skills, the ability to multi-task is a must.  Strong time management and computer skills required. Candidates MUST have a college degree and/or one of the following: 1) a Certificate from an accredited paralegal program, 2) a Florida Registered Paralegal or 3) certified as a paralegal from NALA. Candidates must know how to capture time efficiently and according to client guidelines, how to collect, review and summarize medical records and other such records as needed and how to prepare for deposits, mediations and trials.

Duties include, but are not limited to, reviewing medical records, analysis and preparation of medical chronologies, propounding discovery, responding to discovery, witness and expert contact and deposition preparation. He/she is also responsible for:

  • Organizing and tracking case files
  • Locating and interviewing witnesses
  • Reviewing and assembling documents to be used at deposition
  • Reviewing, organizing and bates stamping documents
  • Preparing chronologies and indices 
  • Investigating facts via computer research, social media, etc.
  • Assist attorneys with drafting pleadings, motions and discovery
  • Managing discovery
  • Maintain document files
  • Researching experts and providing documents to experts for their review
  • Manage court dates and pre-trial discovery deadlines and deadlines for trial
  • Effectively communicate status of projects to appropriate persons in a timely manner.
  • Exercise good judgment regarding when to ask questions and to raise issues with more senior staff
  • Strong understanding of the legal process with the ability to analyze and interpret legal documentation and how it relates to and affects each case. Have knowledge and comprehension in the law of the State of Florida, including State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Discovery, Rules of Evidence and commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable with the rules and procedures of Florida federal and state courts; including, but not limited to, the requirements for the filing of documents electronically using CM/ECF systems
  • Performing on-line research using Lexis, Westlaw and the Internet – Cite checking
  • Preparing Power Point Presentations for mediation and trial
  • Assisting in trial preparation and at trial
