Job Summary:
Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skill obtained through education and/or work-related experience to act as portfolio manager of residential loans. Utilize credit and critical thinking skills associated with amendments, modifications, release of collateral for retail loans. Audit, book, analyze, administer, and reconcile retail, loans, including Residential Mortgages and Home Equity Lines of Credit. Follows established procedures to perform a variety of tasks requiring some evaluation, originality or ingenuity in making decisions. Regular contacts with internal and external customers are required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information and/or identify, research, and resolve problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains loans in servicing system according to pre-established procedures
  • Process amendments/modifications to retail loan accounts
  • Handling escalations via phone/email/contact management system through to resolution
  • Executes on loan servicing responsibilities related to the maintenance and monitoring of retail loans.
  • Establishes parallel monitoring processes and controls, as necessary, to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ability to review financial statements, credit reports and applicable ratios
  • Prepares or reviews for accuracy, standard legal documents.
  • Monitors securities collateral adequacy and performs margin call steps if necessary.
  • Monitors bank portfolio and performs default administration or monitoring of default administration activity, and reporting thereof.
  • Assists customers with inquiries, servicing requests, or problems.
  • Review/analyze real estate appraisals in connection with modifications/amendments.
  • Make recommendations for modifications/collateral releases to Credit Risk
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Multi-state Retail loan servicing practices
  • Basic credit underwriting skills
Skill in:
  • Reviewing and interpreting commercial and retail loan terms and documentation.
  • Identifying unusual transaction activity, interest accrual discrepancies and regulatory discrepancies.
  • Preparing spreadsheets and creating formulas.
  • Preparation of retail loan documents
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, electronic communication and maintain spreadsheets and databases.
Ability to:
  • Identify and recommend changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to routine loan accounting and loan servicing problems.
  • Make routine decisions.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
  • Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven, work environment.
  • Make outbound, and receive inbound, calls on a recorded Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) telephone line
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree and two (2) years’ experience as a retail credit underwriter or retail/commercial lender.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • None required.
