ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Facilities Management Division implements USF System’s programs through the development of policies and procedures in coordination with USF System institutions (USF Tampa, USF Health, USF St. Petersburg, and USF Sarasota-Manatee) as well as through strategic initiatives designed to realize the goals and objectives of each institution. Six Departments make up Facilities Management. Planning & Space Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and Emergency Management have system-wide responsibility. Design & Construction, Operations and Maintenance & Plant Operations, and Building & Campus Services, have local responsibilities on the USF Tampa and USF Health campuses.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintenance technicians are responsible for general repairs and maintenance on the USF buildings, structures, and equipment. Maintenance Technicians perform preventative and repair maintenance to keep all buildings and equipment in good operating condition. A variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties are performed to carry out essential functions of this position, and mechanics should be trained and qualified in one or more skilled craft areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Replace lamps and ballasts in light fixtures.
Perform painting. Drywall, baseboard, and trim repair.
Ceiling tile replacement.
Manual and electronic door repair.
Installation & repair: Whiteboards, shelves, restroom fixtures, and restroom partitions.
Water intrusion investigations (roof, window, and plumbing).
Unclog drains/toilets, repair faucets, replace batteries in automatic fixtures, and repair minor leaks.
Other job related duties.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires completion of an approved apprenticeship program for one or more trades; or a high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. A valid Florida Driver’s License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.
PREFERRED:
High School diploma and four years of commercial maintenance experience; Knowledge of basic repair procedures, for door closures, hardware, carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills. Candidate should possess a strong commitment to work in a team environment with ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at the appropriate times.
