ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Facilities Management Division implements USF System’s programs through the development of policies and procedures in coordination with USF System institutions (USF Tampa, USF Health, USF St. Petersburg, and USF Sarasota-Manatee) as well as through strategic initiatives designed to realize the goals and objectives of each institution. Six Departments make up Facilities Management. Planning & Space Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and Emergency Management have system-wide responsibility. Design & Construction, Operations and Maintenance & Plant Operations, and Building & Campus Services, have local responsibilities on the USF Tampa and USF Health Campuses.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position oversees the daily operations of a shift for Building Services and will schedule, and inspect routine cleaning, special assignments, and emergency response during their shift, holidays, and weekends. The position is expected to participate in periodic on-call responsibilities to provide needed coverage.
This position is accountable for inventory control and distribution of tools, equipment, and supplies needed to perform work; developing and enforcing policies and procedures; recruiting, training, evaluating, disciplining, and mentoring staff; ensuring work orders are prioritized and completed in a timely manner; maintaining professional relationships with the university community; demonstrating professionalism and leadership in accomplishing daily assignments and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director.
This position is responsible for departmental budget, providing budget recommendations, and researching and initiating the purchase of supplies and services.
This position is identified as “Essential Personnel” and may be required to report to work during emergencies or when the university is closed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the daily operations of a shift for Building Services. Schedule, coordinate, and inspect routine cleaning, special assignments, and emergency response during their shift, as well as during holidays and weekends.
Recruit, train, evaluate, discipline, and mentor staff to build a cohesive team. Evaluate and prioritize daily work load and allocate labor resources as needed to meet requirement.
Support the Assistant Director in developing the departmental budget, providing budget recommendations, and researching and initiating the purchase of supplies and services.
Manage inventory control and distribution of tools, equipment, carts and vehicles, consumables, and chemicals needed to perform work. Ensure safety protocols are followed and safety equipment is available and in operational condition. Manage shop level safety and technical training.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with university departments, divisions, deans, chairpersons, other universities, and outside agencies to accomplish assignments.
Formulate, recommend, and enforce university and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure work orders are prioritized and completed in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM :
The position requires master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
Demonstrated experience in effectively leading teams, coordination and prioritization of work schedules and work orders, employee development, and conflict resolution. Experience with inventory management, including inventory control, budget management, and time management.
This position is subject to a Level 1 criminal background check and drug screen.
