Position Description
The Manager of Talent Acquisition provides strategic direction and effective implementation of recruiting processes for our Retail, Corporate, Distribution and Manufacturing business areas. This includes design and execution of employment branding to effectively communicate that Publix is a great place to work. It also includes strategic leadership of the recruiters who serve those business areas. The Manager of Talent Acquisition reports to the Vice President of Talent and Organizational Development.
This role is responsible for:
- Customizing recruiting strategies to meet the objectives of each business unit, evaluating the success of those strategies, and making improvements to the strategies as needed.
- Enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring that appropriate metrics are collected and analyzed.
- Working with hiring managers and others involved in staffing to create systems and processes that provide a positive experience for all candidates.
- Ensuring Publix builds applicant pools representative of our market area and our customer mix.
- Creating and managing a recruitment budget to deliver the needed recruiting services at the lowest cost possible while still achieving business results.
- Maximizing internal resources to limit the number of search firms engaged to assist with recruiting for critical positions.
- Building, sustaining, managing, evaluating and negotiating all vendor relationships, such as those with recruitment advertising agencies, search firms and technology partners.
- Personally conducting searches for critical management positions.
- Ensuring that Publix’s recruiting practices align with company policies, company culture, employment law and contracts signed by the company.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience related to this position’s responsibilities
- Previous experience managing a recruiting function or: (1). at least five years of broad recruiting experience, with at least two at a sizeable organization with multiple locations and a significant hourly workforce, and (2). at least four years of experience sourcing candidates from the Internet, and (3). at least four years of experience negotiating employment offers with candidates.
- At least two years of experience leading the strategic development of recruiting or other important HR programs
- At least two years of experience using social media
- Strategic and tactical experience developing communication projects such as employment branding campaigns or associate communications
- Experience working with third party vendors
- Experience handling successful searches for high-level positions
- Project management experience leading at least two major change initiatives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, including the ability to define, measure and evaluate metrics
- A combined ability to see the big picture while also executing with great attention to detail
- Knowledge of a wide variety of recruiting strategies to separately address high-volume staffing needs and individual searches
- Knowledge of best practices to create a superb candidate experience during the entire recruiting and employment process
- Knowledge of best practices in using print, web, broadcast and mobile media to advertise openings
- Knowledge of essential recruiting technologies, including applicant tracking systems, external resume databases and Internet sourcing tools
- Knowledge of metrics needed to evaluate the effectiveness of recruiting strategies.
- A high-level understanding of search engine optimization and search engine marketing
- A high level understanding of employment law
- Knowledge of budget preparation processes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and through speech, including the ability to listen well
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people to deliver results
- Demonstrated ability to be positive, proactive, and flexible in dealing with a wide variety of situations, personalities, and levels of knowledge, understanding and experience
- High standards of excellence and productivity, including demonstrated ability to take ownership for all outcomes
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- SPHR, GPHR or PHR certification, or certification from a respected sourcing organization
- At least four years of experience leading a recruiting team for a large retailer with a reputation for strong customer service
- At least 10 years of recruiting experience in large, expanding organizations that include a retail component
- At least four years of experience managing cross-functional projects of significant strategic importance
- At least four years of experience using LinkedIn Recruiter
- At least four years of experience working with a recruitment advertising agency
- At least four years of experience working with employment lawyers and industrial-organizational psychologists to identify and use valid candidate screening and assessment processes
- At least three years of experience managing a budget of at least $200,000
- At least two years of experience working on mobile and tablet applications for recruiting
- Attendance at major recruiting conferences
- Experience publishing blogs
- Public speaking experience
- Training delivery experience
- Survey development experience.

Work Environment NA
