The Tampa Bay Rays are seeking great candidates to be considered for the role of Manager, Planning and Development. The Rays’ Planning and Development department is focused on long-term business planning and strategic initiatives, including ballpark development and working toward the next home for the Rays in Tampa Bay. The Manager, Planning and Development position will support the activities of the department in a wide-ranging role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support department projects in the areas of strategic planning, facilities development, capital projects, and real estate development and investment.
  • Assist in due diligence and planning related to predevelopment activities, project feasibility, budgeting, site evaluation, design, financing, approvals, and construction.
  • Aid in the development of planning studies and perform analysis related to market research, feasibility studies, financial analysis, economic impact, etc.
  • Perform analysis and modeling including financial projections and pro formas to support project work and aid decision making and evaluation of business ventures.
  • Perform research, write reports/memoranda, and present findings on a wide variety of complex topics related to project planning and funding, real estate development, approvals processes, and other topics as needed.
  • Assist with developing, monitoring, and updating schedules, budgets, timelines, financial information and projections, etc.
  • Facilitate community outreach, soliciting feedback, interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Coordinate project work amongst large, diverse, and cross-functional project teams including internal colleagues, external consultants, partners, stakeholders, and private and public agencies.
  • Monitor and report on industry and market trends and best practices.
  • Support the business activities of the rest of the organization and other strategic opportunities as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ relevant work experience in a field such as (but not limited to) finance, real estate, planning, architecture, business administration, sports management, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well as part of a collaborative team as well as independently.
  • Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented.
  • Experience with Excel including data analytics and performing financial modeling (or similar) is preferred.
  • Proficient with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of products including PowerPoint.
