Marketing & Communications Intern

Florida State Fair 2021

We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team for the 2021 Florida State Fair Season. If you’re an ambitious individual who wants to build a career in social media, event planning and execution, content marketing, and public relations, then we want to work with you. Your work will include capturing content & monitoring social platforms, escorting media representatives around the grounds, assist in execution of department lead events, and assisting the marketing team with daily tasks directly related to the success of the annual Florida State Fair.

In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should have excellent multitasking and organizational abilities. The successful candidate will also have in-depth knowledge of marketing techniques and social media platforms along with a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. Experience in the entertainment/live events industry is preferred but is not required. This is a six-week internship starting on or around January 25, 2021 and ending on or around March 5, 2021. This position will be paid a stipend for their time.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Social Media platforms for comments, messages, etc. and respond accordingly.
  • Contribute content for various social media platforms throughout the duration of the Florida State Fair.
  • Help with final preparations and execution for department lead events such as the Deep Fried Dash 5K, FLSF Fest Influencer Event, etc.
  • Actively engage with third-party agencies on status of media buy and public relations to prepare reports for upper management.
  • Upload Press Releases and Publish within the news section of FloridaStateFair.com (WordPress).
  • Assist in creation of signage as needed within our in-house print shop.
  • Assist with gathering information for final fair recap and reports.
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks and duties as assigned.


Required Experience:

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as a college junior or senior seeking a degree in marketing, communications or related field of study.
  • Or recent graduate with a degree in marketing, communications or related field of study.
  • Familiarity with marketing computer software, Adobe Creative Suite, and MacOS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business social media platforms and (Facebook Pages, Instagram for Businesses, Ads Manager, etc.).
  • Outstanding multitasking abilities and a passion for marketing and communications.
