Job Title: Marketing & Communications Manager
Location: Downtown St. Petersburg, FL

Reports To: Executive Director

We are seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead and execute dynamic marketing strategies for our museum in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. This role demands a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering relationships, managing multiple projects, and driving growth through creative and strategic marketing initiatives. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including local and national influencers, to enhance the museum’s visibility, drive engagement, and increase revenue.

The role requires a personable individual comfortable engaging with media, serving as on-camera talent, and representing the museum for interviews, events, and initiatives. The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee all marketing activities, from advertising and social media campaigns to email marketing, e-commerce, and influencer partnerships. You will be responsible for amplifying the museum’s voice in the community, supporting events, exhibitions, guest experiences, retail efforts (both in-store and online), education programs, and more.

Additionally, you will work closely with the web development team to ensure that the museum’s website remains an effective marketing tool, continuously enhancing its SEO, user experience, and brand consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement omnichannel marketing strategies that align with the museum’s mission, objectives, and growth targets, balancing creativity with budget management. Track campaign performance, adjust strategies to optimize ROI, and manage marketing budgets to ensure cost-effective execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with all museum departments—events, guest experience, membership, sponsorship, in-store and online retail, education, group tours, and programming—to create integrated marketing strategies that align with each department’s goals and initiatives.
  • Audience & Funnel Strategy: Identify key audience segments and design targeted marketing funnels to boost engagement, conversion rates, and overall visitor experience across all initiatives.
  • Email Marketing & E-Commerce: Manage email marketing campaigns using platforms like Mailchimp to drive visitor engagement, ticket sales, membership growth, and retail promotions. Collaborate with the retail team to support the growth of both in-store and online sales (Lightspeed e-comm platform), driving traffic to promote unique glass art and museum-related products.
  • Press Releases & Media Relations: Write and distribute press releases that are ready for media pickup, ensuring that messaging supports the museum’s goals. Serve as an on-camera spokesperson, engaging with the media about museum events, exhibitions, initiatives, and collections.
  • Influencer & Partnership Development: Manage influencer programs to elevate the museum’s profile and expand its reach. Build and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with local and national organizations, including nonprofits, hospitality groups, and community stakeholders to enhance brand visibility and collaboration.
  • Website Management & SEO: Collaborate with the web development team to ensure brand consistency, improve SEO, and optimize the user experience on the museum’s website, continually increasing organic traffic and visibility (WordPress/Elementor).
  • Creative & Analytical Balance: Utilize both creative vision and analytical skills to design compelling campaigns, track performance data, and deliver impactful results that drive growth and engagement.
  • Design & Digital Tools: Leverage proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite to create promotional materials, presentations, and streamline project workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Art/Design or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a museum, nonprofit, or arts-related environment.
  • Strong experience with omnichannel marketing, influencer programs, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), e-commerce strategies, and SEO optimization.
  • Ability to create compelling content for multiple platforms including social media, email, websites, and print.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with web developers to maintain and optimize websites for performance, SEO, and user experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage media, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of creativity and strategic thinking.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Background or interest in art, art history, or cultural institutions.
  • On-camera experience or comfort with speaking to media and representing an organization in interviews and public events.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools and CRM systems.
  • Experience managing influencer campaigns and creating content for influencer partnerships.
  • Knowledge of the arts, cultural events, and nonprofit sector.
  • Strong understanding of website design, user experience, and SEO best practices.
