Overview:

As a full-time employee, this position requires a dynamic, energetic individual who has a personal and professional interest in marketing and public relations. The Marketing & PR Manager reports to the CAO and is responsible for overseeing the public relations, design, and marketing for the museum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manages public relations with all marketing and museum communications.

· Creates marketing materials for all museum events and branding initiatives

· Curates content for e-newsletters, museum website, and social media working closely with other departments

· Works closely with all departments to create brochures/flyers for programs and events

· Report analytics and trends from all digital channels CEO for board reports

· Track reviews on Trip Advisor, Google, and other review sites

· Works closely with all departments to create press releases when needed for upcoming events.

  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests. Coordinate all public relations activities.
  • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.

· Write museum related articles and press releases. Create media attention and relationships within the community. Create content for public speaking engagements

· Works in partnership as a member of the development department to manage and oversee museum-sponsored events

· Represent museum at offsite events when applicable

· Provides support to the CEO, the Board of Trustees, committees, and to any support groups involved with marketing and public relations.

· Coordinate and execute museum filming for public-facing content.

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Four-year degree or higher in any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Supplemental coursework in business, marketing, public relations, graphic design, fundraising, and/or grant writing. Responsible experience in development, administration, and/or education.

Must know Adobe Illustrator or other design software.

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

· Ability to develop and implement creative marketing strategies to advance the Museum’s profile in the community and maximize the Museum’s resources development efforts.

· Excellent planning and organizational skills

· Excellent written and oral skills (writing/spelling/vocabulary)

· Good communication skills in garnering/maintaining support from the community, business, and political leaders

· Ability to motivate others – both staff and volunteers

· Ability to work with all departments within the organization demonstrating sound business judgment in decision making.

· Ability to see the big picture

· Knowledge of nonprofit management, especially museums

· Strong computer skills

· Strong supervisory skills

· BA or BS in Marketing, Public Relations or Broadcasting

· Solid grasp of desktop publishing software, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Suite

· Experience with website development and WordPress

· Excellent customer service skills and follow-through

· Knowledge and experience with media marketing and internet advertising

· Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

· Innovative creative and self-motivated

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities

· Ability to accept and learn from constructive criticism

· Willingness to work for the good of the team
