Full Job Description

The Marketing and Strategic Communications Manager will tell the stories of St. Petersburg, the Chamber, its Foundation, and its members while building brand awareness of our platforms and programming through tactical messaging in public and private sectors, and the media. He/she will create a calendar of marketing campaigns and events while analyzing the current market and competitors. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the creation of marketing materials, web development and social media marketing.

This individual must be proactive, self-directed and an outside-the-box thinker with the skills to take ideas from development to execution.

This position will report to the President & CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Interact with and build brand partnerships and marketing opportunities with community and Chamber partners such as the Economic Development Corporation, Grow Smarter, the Greenhouse, and others.

· Develop a coordinated marketing strategy for the promotion of events, platform programming, meetings, member workshops and task force meetings.

· Create marketing collateral, newsletters and news briefs, member communications, and presentations to support brand development, member campaign development, member retention, economic development, advocacy, and leadership programs.

· Expand current media contact list by creating relationships with other media professionals and leverage these relationships for impact.

· Develop media releases and coordinate the media requests for access to the President/CEO or other designated spokesperson.

· Create and distribute content for use on web, social media platforms and all other mediums.

· Respond to internal and external requests for marketing support as needed.

· Manage the production of three annual publications including content, design, and advertising sales.

· Update and maintain website.

· Maintain and track social media content and report insights.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies and Experience

· A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism.

· A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in marketing, communications, or media relations.

· A high level of comfort and proven experience with the Internet, both from a social media and a design/navigation standpoint.

· Creative flair and developed design skills.

· Proven, extensive communication skills, both verbal and written. Web/Social Media skills a must.

· Advanced knowledge of and high level of comfort with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.

· Skilled at time, task, and budget management – especially attentive to detail and deadlines.

· Flexible scheduling required – including early mornings and evenings during the week when necessary.

· Reliable transportation a must.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
