JOB SUMMARY: 
This position initiates communication and outreach strategies promoting the CareerSource Tampa Bay Workforce Board and its various workforce programs in Hillsborough County.  In addition, this position will coordinate strategies with community, educational and economic development organizations to recruit skilled workers and attract employers to the workforce region and the Employ Florida.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform communication and outreach projects as needed
  • Plan and prepare outreach materials such as social media posts, videos, press releases, public service announcements, brochures, power point presentations, annual report, success story videos, etc. to increase employer/job seeker awareness and connectivity between employers and job seekers.
  • Occasional re-design of company website to create a professional, current, interactive site where information is easily located and professionally displayed.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of company information on established/respected social networking sites to conduct outreach to job seekers, employers and the general public and present a professional image of CareerSource Tampa Bay Workforce Board programs and services.
  • Prepare and present information to job seekers and employers regarding employment services and employment data.
  • Create and implement electronic and other customer surveys to gather feedback from job seekers and employers and compile survey results.
  • Assist in the coordination, facilitation and promotion of CareerSource job fairs, seminars, forums and other public events as assigned.  Participate in job fairs and appropriate community trade show and other events as required.
  • Plan and organize Board and partner media events.
  • Adhere to direction given regarding separation of duties for purposes of internal controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education & Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in graphic art, mass communications, social media business, and marketing, Journalism or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in marketing, social media, videography, photography, public outreach, and/or public relations.  Must have strong graphic art and video production skills.
  • Proficiency in a variety of PC applications is required including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, WordPress, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe CS6.
  • Must be proficient in English.  Fluent in Spanish is preferred.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to design and produce outreach materials such as: brochures, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, social media posts, videos, digital marketing collateral is required (be prepared to provide a portfolio of your work if you are selected for an interview).   Must be familiar with video/still photography.
  • Formal training in web design, web programming or at least one year experience in web page production/maintenance is a plus.
  • Ability to provide outstanding, positive customer service is essential. Must have a positive attitude.
  • Organizational skills, time management skills and excellent oral and written communications skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel throughout Hillsborough County is required. A valid Florida driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured motor vehicle is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed instructions to other or important spoken workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
