Job Summary:
The role of the Mortgage Document Specialist I is to index mortgage loan origination and servicing documents in preparation for a Diligence review. Indexing in this context can be defined as the process of splitting the large pdf files into specified document types, renaming and storing them for easy retrieval and review. Mortgage Document Specialists also perform a review of loan origination and servicing documentation. Utilizing their mortgage industry expertise, the Mortgage Document Specialist may be assigned to assist different departments depending on work flow needs. The Mortgage Document Specialist may also be assigned to other special projects depending on their skills and background. This position reports to the Diligence Project Manager.
Job Duties:
The Mortgage Document Specialist I may perform any of the various job duties listed below, depending on experience and work flow needs.
- Identify and review mortgage loan origination and servicing documentation.
- Utilize a database queue and understand daily production reporting to ensure workflow standards are met within the specified timeline.
- Perform related duties as assigned while maintaining quality in daily work to ensure department standards are met following defined procedures.
- Assist with special projects, mentoring and training to promote optimal productivity and quality within the team.
- Must read, be familiar, and be compliant with Meridian’s Information Security Manual, as well as additional e-mails, policies, procedures and directives that comprise the overall Information Security policies as they are distributed.
Education, Experience & Knowledge:
- Education:
- Associates or 2 Year college degree in a related field required. In some cases, substantial, relevant experience may be substituted for this qualification.
- Experience/Knowledge:
- Mortgage related document knowledge required.
- 2 or more years of related experience in Processing/Underwriting, Post-Closing Review, or Loan Servicing.
Skills & Qualifications:

- Attention to detail in the indexing, review and data entry of information from documents.

- Ability to compose professional correspondence independently for internal or external clients.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office including the basic functionality of Excel, Word and Outlook.
