A family-friendly Tampa Bay mortgage company located in Westchase is looking for a full-time, salaried Loan Officer Assistant to work alongside our 2 existing Loan Partners, as part of local origination team. This position is different, in that you don’t need to go out and “get” the loans and relationships, you just need to be exceptional at structuring loans and closing them efficiently, with proactive communication and exceptional customer service to our borrowers and Realtors. We just care about results.
We have a generous compensation package starting with a base salary, in addition to basis points on production, which could provide a total first-year compensation of $50,000 to $80,000, depending on experience, production, etc.
This position offers full medical benefits and a matching 401k. Having a NMLS license already is ideal, but not required for this position. We use Encompass and are a direct lender who also brokers some loans as necessary. Salesforce experience is a plus, as we are power Salesforce users. Organization, multi-tasking and being humble is a must.
The ideal candidate may currently/formerly be a loan officer who loves working the loan and helping get deals closed, but doesn’t like to “go get new business” … and wants/needs a steady and reliable paycheck. Or, you may be a processor or underwriter who likes helping and talking with people, but is burned-out from the same old monotony of processing and underwriting. Our organization generates a tremendous amount of organic and referred purchase borrowers, and this position would be 1 of 3 Loan Partners to simply service the incoming mortgage customers and referring Realtors…without burning yourself out with obnoxiously long hours and being tethered to your phone/laptop all weekend. We have systems in place for night and weekends.
We hustle and work very hard…but we hire additional people to avoid burn-out.
This position will be performing the following main tasks in the mortgage process:
- Enter 1003, pull credit, set up LE, run DU, set-up PreQual letter for LO
- Take initial loan information from web submissions or data from client
- Review PQ/LE with client (if licensed)
- Gather and pre-underwrite income/asset docs, and stay in touch with buyers
- Help processing team as needed to get loan cleared-to-close
This candidate would benefit from an understanding of how to analyze credit reports, and how it impacts loan structure. You absolutely must know general Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA and USDA guidelines, and know how to run Desktop Underwriter.
You must be phenomenal at communicating with Real Estate Agents too. You must know how to electronically gather, review and sort income/asset documents, help request and clear conditions. You must know how to calculate general income. We are paperless, so you MUST be good with the computer.

Salary pay range is $40,000-$55,000 salary per year based on experience + bonus.
