Full Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The Loan Processor prepares and processes mortgage loan records, files and correspondence from application through approval. Assures compliance with regulatory guidelines. Provides excellent customer service. Communicates with homeowner candidates, internal staff, title companies, etc. to respond to inquiries, resolve issues and obtain all necessary documentation required for the file.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive, download, and process all initial screening applications – send out full applications.
  • Manage applications email box and download all full application documents to be reviewed by underwriter.
  • Maintain HFHHC Demographic spreadsheet.
  • Receive all incoming full applications.
  • Process all full files (review for basic required documentation).
  • Send NOI letters for all incomplete files and maintain follow up spreadsheet.
  • Pull VOE & VOR’s as necessary and forward to underwriter.
  • Weekly follow up calls to applicants.
  • Maintain contact with current HOC’s for sweat equity hours.
  • Input all HOC’s sweat equity hours into tracking software.
  • Update Access system of record with all files (initial, full, turndowns, approvals).
  • Keep Mentorship database – contact applicants about involvement.
  • Put together a pool, refer, and keep contact with applicants in Mentorship program.
  • Additional Mentorship Program duties as they arise.
  • Refer HOC’s to Housing Counseling agencies for DPA – follow up, provide documentation, etc.
  • Return phone calls regarding status.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Access.
  • Ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds, of different races, faiths and incomes.

Work Environment:

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, tablets, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate performs the following activities: standing; walking; bending, squatting, use hands, reach with hands/arms, listen and communicate.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time non-exempt position. The typical workweek is Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends required.

Education, Experience and Attributes:

  • Willingness to advocate the mission of Habitat for Humanity
  • Mortgage loan origination or mortgage loan processing experience preferred but not required.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited college and or credit counseling certification (preferred) but not required or transferrable skills and experience in human services or social services.
