JOB OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of clerical tasks and/or supervisory clerical duties in support of a major County function or operation, including the processing of documents, forms and applications; maintenance of detailed records and compilation and computation of statistical data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and

Three or more years of clerical experience.

Or

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires sitting for extended periods of time; Occasionally lifting of up to 20 pounds, Squatting to pick up items; bending

Position may be required to operate a vehicle to report other facilities to meet business needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Cubicle setting in a climate-controlled office. This position may be required to be available to assist in emergency events such as hurricanes, tropical storms, etc. Overtime may be required to meet operational needs.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

May supervise assigned clerical employees and provides training and assistance as necessary.

Maintains manual and automated file systems to include a large, complex system.

Codes, classifies, posts and compiles information for use by others.

Verifies and registers documents; assigns file number and affixes seal as appropriate.

Reviews forms, documents and other materials for accuracy and completeness.

Provides assistance to staff and public as required.

Responds to inquiries and searches files for requested information to include the more complex searches.

Performs computations and verifies figures.

Maintains logs and records of equipment, inventory, costs, services performed, documents received, and charges to be assessed; may also maintain employee attendance and leave records.

Operates office equipment such as adding machines, copiers, telephones, shredders, and postage meters.

Operates data processing equipment.

Types forms, vouchers, requisitions, invoices, notices, schedules, legal documents, and other materials; types from rough drafts or combines data from multiple sources.

Provides guidance to lower level clerical staff and reviews work of others for completeness and accuracy.

Performs other clerical duties such as photocopying; ordering and issuing supplies; and sending receiving, sorting, and distributing mail.

Performs other related duties as required.

Health Plan: The County pays towards health insurance premiums for all employees. Employees can select from three health care plan options. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Dental Insurance: Employees are eligible to enroll in the dental coverage and choose from four options: High DMO, Low DMO, a network Open Access Plan, and a PPO. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

Vision Care: Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.

Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.

Holidays: Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.
