As a Paralegal, you will provide legal secretarial support during all phases of workers’ compensation litigation to the Staff Counsel Attorneys.
- Preparation of responses to discovery, including meeting with clients when necessary
- Sending discovery requests.
- Monitoring compliance with discovery by all parties and prepares motions as appropriate.
- Assisting with preparation of cases for trial.
- Assisting attorneys with investigation of cases.
- Obtaining medical, insurance, employment and/or other records/information, through record requests or subpoenas.
- Assisting with the drafting of motions, briefs and other documents.
- Coordinating CME’s and is office liaison with experts.
- Performing legal research at the request of the attorneys.
- Assist with scheduling and confirming depositions, mediations, hearings, and in-person/telephone conferences.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years’ experience as a litigation paralegal in Florida required. Insurance defense experience preferred.
- Spanish speakinga plus.
- Solid knowledge / understanding of local jurisdictional and federal court rules and procedures.
