Job Summary:
A Paralegal assists lawyers in preparing and organizing various legal documents for upcoming cases and trials. Their main duties include preparing affidavits and correspondence, discussing case details with attorneys and clients as well as organizing different files for different legal proceedings.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with attorneys, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Conducts research, investigates facts, and develops legal arguments.
- Drafting legal documents such as contracts, depositions, initial drafts of pleadings, and motions.
- Keeps track of changes in legal framework and provides timely updates on these changes.
- Preparing and filing documents with courts.
- Organizing and archiving the documents related to completed and ongoing cases.
- Filings in State and Federal Court.
- Calendaring and coordinating deadlines, as well as scheduling hearings and court reporters.
- E-Discovery
- Bates labeling and redacting documents.
- Assisting during mediation, trial, and hearings (including the preparation of hearing binders).
- Preparing and organizing exhibits.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, witnesses, judicial assistants, opposing counsel, and representatives.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Knowledge of how to request a summons and the serving process.
- Investigative mind and strong research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:
- Certification or Associates Degree in Paralegal studies (Bachelor’s degree is preferred)
- A minimum experience of two years in a paralegal role
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
