Role: Legal Practice Assistant
Location: One Tampa City Center
Hours: Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F with one-hour lunch (37.5 hours per week)
We are seeking qualified candidates for a full-time family law paralegal/legal practice assistant hybrid position in our downtown Tampa office.
- Must have recent Family/Elder law experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- This position is a hybrid role—family law paralegal/legal practice assistant
- The successful candidate will assist attorneys through the performance of complex paralegal/administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process, excellent secretarial skills, and knowledge of grammar, spelling, basic math, and punctuation.
- Must be proficient in scheduling meetings and managing calendars, including sending invitations and reminders when needed; making and/or changing travel arrangements; opening, organizing, managing, and closing files; drafting correspondence; and typing and formatting legal documents.
- He/she will assist lawyers throughout all phases of litigation including pre-trial investigation, trial preparation, and post-trial appeals by preparing legal documents such as discovery, briefs, pleadings, and appeals for review, approval, and use by lawyer.
OTHER:
- Must be highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who will take ownership and become familiar with clients, cases, and files.
- Proficiency in MS Word 2016, use of dictation equipment, and 50 wpm typing required.
- Prefer at least 2 years of experience as a Family Law paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department environment and a degree in paralegal studies, NALA paralegal certification, or a bachelor’s degree.

- Dress code is business casual.
- While the firm doesn’t provide parking for employees, we will provide a space while the person is temping.
- S/he will just need to make sure to give us the parking card back on the last day worked.
