Custodian/Maintenance Job Description
Qualifications:
- Christian with a Baptist church background preferred.
- Personality which reflects the following characteristics: self-starter, flexible, responsible, good verbal communication skills, good motor skills and works well with others.
- Previous custodial experience is preferred.
Definition of Role:
The Custodian reports to the Church Administrator.
The Custodian is responsible for the appearance, maintenance and general upkeep of the equipment, facility and general property of Kings Avenue Baptist Church, ensuring the facility is clean and presentable for all services.
The Custodian is responsible for notifying the Church Administrator when a repairman is needed. If major work is needed around the church, he assists the Church Administrator in facilitating a general work day and is available during the day to assist the church people.
Description of Responsibilities:
Specifically, the custodian will perform the following:
Vacuum carpets, sweep, mop and buff floors
Clean bathrooms:
Sweep, mop and buff floors
Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets and urinals
Clean walls and doors
Replace towels, toilet paper and soap
Clean mirrors and glass
Empty trash, sanitary containers, replacing with appropriate liners
Strip and wax floors
Wipe, straighten tables and chairs
Empty trash, replacing with appropriate liners
Dust
Clean glass
Wipe down hall walls when needed
Set-up for Sunday school and Wednesday evening activities
Additional duties for Chapel
Straighten pew racks, putting hymnals back and cleaning out
Straightening vestibule
Stock pews with offering envelopes and pencils
Outside Grounds – as directed
Weeds flower beds around buildings
Waters as needed
Applies vegetation killer as needed
Other general yard and grounds work as needed
Vehicle Maintenance
Cleans and vacuums Church vehicles as needed or directed
Washes and waxes Church vehicles as needed or directed
Transports the Church vehicles for general maintenance checks and gasoline when directed
Special Maintenance
Changes air conditioning filters
Changes light bulbs
Assists in special events such as: Walk through Bethlehem, Easter program, etc.
Hours
M – F, with occasional weekend coverage
8am – 3pm
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $11.00 per hour
