Straz Center for the Performing Arts

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is recruiting for the position of part-time Information Support Specialist (up to 19 hours per week). This position reports to the IT Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting the IT Manager by performing a wide variety of confidential administrative, secretarial and clerical duties.
  • Providing end users with guidance and support by taking ownership of various problems and resolutions.

This could be an ideal opportunity for the aspiring IT student or recent graduate to gain exposure and experience in the field and develop their career within IT

Information Technology Administrative Assistance

  • Coordinate all department related purchase request and invoices.
  • Maintain project and departmental expenses for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Manage purchase requisitions, accounts payable submissions/research and payments/reconciliation with departmental needs.
  • Contact vendors and merchants to provide operational services, coordinate service, and follow through on outstanding issues.
  • Based on specifications; obtain and evaluate quotes for computing hardware, software, and supplies.
  • Screen and route incoming calls and answers general inquiries
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with internal and external contacts.

Help Desk Support

  • Install, support, troubleshoot and repair various hardware and software including workstations, laptops, business applications, networking equipment, and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, mice, and mobile devices
  • Provide courteous, desktop support for users via phone and in-person
  • Utilize a help desk system to track, document issues and provide updates according to our internal service level agreements
  • Coordinates with other team members regarding status of assigned help desk tickets and escalate when unable to resolve a customer’s issue or request
  • Assists with data security by researching and mitigating any virus, malware, or other vulnerabilities that are discovered
  • Repair and run new network cabling; assist with Wi-Fi analysis and troubleshooting

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills/Experience:

  • One (1) to Two (2) years of direct work experience providing:
    • Administrative assistance
  • Troubleshooting ability for the various operating systems such as Windows 7/10
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Preferred but Not Required:
  • Higher education degree in the field of Information Technology
  • Certifications such as A +, Network +, MCP, MCTS, Security + are a plus
