Full-Time Very busy, well established, multi-office law firm is seeking a PIP Paralegal and a First Party Property Paralegal.
Mon-Fri, 9-5, with benefits after 60 days.
$45-55K depends on experience
SUMMARY:
– Enhances attorney effectiveness by providing a range of legal support to lawyers to include preparation of pleadings and motions, and tracking and responding to discovery.
– Maintain a minimum billable hour requirement (130 hours/month).
– Because of the billable hour requirement, scheduling and clerical tasks should be kept to a minimum, and only as a back up to the legal assistant or administrative assistant who should have responsibility for those tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Keep cases organized by opening files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions taken on files, inputting and organizing information and documents in case management software, and staying in close communication with attorney regarding case status.
– Enter and maintain to-dos for tasks in case management software
– Receiving and distributing settlement checks and distributing them to appropriate parties, sending dismissals to client, and following firm’s case closing procedures.
– Preparation of hearing notebooks in conjunction with legal assistant and litigation support attorneys.
– Preparing correspondence, pleadings, motions, orders, etc. as needed.
– Keep clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress.
– Serving Discovery and following up on responses to discovery with Agreed orders on Motions for Extension, good faith letters, and ex-parte Motions to Compel.
– Responding to discovery served by Opposing Counsel, filing Motions for Extension when necessary and tracking response deadlines.
– Tracking and preparation of Proposals for Settlement.
– Preparation of Non-Party Subpoenas, tracking deadlines for objections and service and receiving responses.
– Coordinating expert witnesses such as IME doctors, peer reviews, coding reviews, etc.
– Receiving and organizing claims materials from client in a manner that allows quicker review of the documents in future case reviews.
– Enhances trial proceedings by organizing witness lists, exhibits and trial binders. TimeMatters and Juris system experience is preferred.
