Project Manager – Residential Maintenance, Sylvan Field Services, LLC

Primary Purpose / Objective:

Sylvan Field Services, a full-service vendor management firm in the single-family rental industry, is seeking a Project Manager for our Maintenance and Turns areas. The role is supervisory and integral to managing the process and administration of work being done out in the field at residential homes. The primary focus of the position is the management and coordination of projects from request through completion in a timely manner.

Detailed responsibilities of the position include: Review of project scopes, analysis of estimates and costs of work needed, sourcing and on-boarding of qualified vendors, scheduling and management of third-party vendors.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all repairs completed are appropriate, cost-effective and timely
  • Efficiently and effectively manage the flow of work order data
  • Analyze and Identifying the scope of work needed
  • Estimate the cost of work orders in terms of direct labor, materials required and total cost
  • Manage the flow and scheduling of work orders by vendors; prioritize the work orders
  • Manage a team of field technicians
  • Plan and analyze overall scheduling of maintenance and turn activities given available resources, critical status of work, and available maintenance windows
  • Work well with outside vendors and suppliers
  • Learn and utilize multiple software systems including in-house proprietary systems
  • Constantly evolve processes to become more efficient and cost effective
  • Assist Property Management and Leasing on an as needed basis

Prerequisites for Success:

  • High-energy, self-starter with a strong desire to join a growing firm
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail oriented
  • Strong ability to multitask and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of fundamental household maintenance
  • Maintain a high level of customer service when dealing with both tenants and internal team members
  • Willingness to work diligently to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction management, supervision of vendors and employees
  • Must be comfortable with processing and tracking data
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Office, Excel)
  • Strong quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Experience managing a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration, or a Construction-related field (preferred)
