Full Job Description
BASIC PURPOSE
The Project Manager is responsible for providing professional management and delivery of capital projects across various functional areas and/or organizations. Has overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, internal staffing, outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. Typical duties include: oversight of consultants, vendors and contractors on various capital projects, preparing reports for project stakeholders, and executive leadership team regarding the status of the project. Expertise required in project management with a proven ability to manage milestones and deliverables and drive results in a matrix or cross-functional environment. The ideal candidate will be motivated and enjoys working in team environment and embodies the department’s values of communication, collaboration and customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manages the design, development, and implementation of capital projects to include, but not limited to gathering and defining the project requirements; obtains staffing requirements; and forms project teams.
- Oversee the design, permitting and construction of various shelter, transit amenities deployment projects.
- Coordinates consultant submittal reviews, meetings, and other design activities with other departments, outside agencies, and utilities.
- Manage the agency’s multi-year shelter contract including (but not limited to) procurement, selection and oversight of shelter contractor.
- Ensures all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate with local agencies, partner agencies, developers on inter-local agreements for placement of transit amenities.
- Manages the relationship with the client and all stakeholders; establishes and maintains relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Monitors project milestones and critical dates to identify potential risk to project schedule; identifies ways to resolve schedule issues; keeps management current on any changes.
- Analyses a variety of complex issues that have divisional or organizational-wide impacts; prepares and maintains related reports and comprehensive project documentation; makes recommendations based on findings.
- Represents the department in inter-departmental meetings to review transit amenity requests.
- Investigates and responds to citizen and member city suggestions, requests, concerns and complaints.
- Researches and stays abreast of latest trends that could impact the public transit industry.
- Other duties as assigned within the parameters of this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field. Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
- Experience: At least 4 years’ experience in managing and/or supporting capital projects in a lead role. Public transportation and/or transportation capital projects experience highly desirable.
- License: Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

- Noise: Exposure to intermittent levels above the ambient noise level.
- Hazards: The inside environmental working conditions with protection from weather conditions. There is dust exposure that could affect the occupational health of the employee.
