Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Property Accounting Manager, the Property Accountant is responsible for all required day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties, as well as assisting with departmental projects and tasks as needed.
- Process monthly journal entries.
- Understand and prepare property cash flow analysis.
- Close assigned property books and prepare monthly close binder [journal entries, bank reconciliations, etc.].
- Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations and reimbursements.
- Reconcile fixed asset additions and monthly depreciation related to assigned properties.
- Accurately code or review property invoices daily.
- Perform and assist, review the completion of the month-end process which includes determining and posting any necessary accruals, reconciling all balance sheet accounts for accuracy, analyzing and explaining income statement and balance sheet budget to actual variances.
- Understand, review and apply monthly tenant charges, accruals and payments.
- Collaborate with lease accountant to maintain knowledge of all transactions and participate in various acquisitions processes within required timeframe and ensure compliance to all internal controls and company policies.
- Overall general ledger account analysis on a routine basis.
- Prepare monthly assigned property financial statements for executive management.
- Coordinate with property manager to ensure compliance to all procedures and evaluate and prepare all annual budgets and review all expense ledgers and assist in recovery reconciliations.
- Assist in preparation of financial data, property and corporate information for the quarterly and annual financial statements filed with SEC (i.e. Form 10-K and Form 10-Q).
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Accrual accounting experience is required.
- Real estate property accounting is preferred.
- Candidate should possess exceptional analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task.

- Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Proficient with Yardi Software
