Our Tampa office is searching for a Property Staff Accountant! This dynamic team member will support Franklin Street and our affiliated businesses with accounting services. Successful candidates will possess a background in Residential/Multi-Family management accounting, strong systems proficiency, and an enthusiasm for customer service. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Follows generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to perform a variety of accounting functions for various real estate and related service companies:

• CAM reconciliation
• Tenant billing
• Commercial property budgeting
• Lease Abstracts
• Performs monthly journal entries
• Compiles and prepares monthly financial statements
• Prepares general ledger reconciliations
• Performs monthly closing processes for properties
• Processes accounts receivables and accounts payables
• Responsible for administering accounting procedures, monitoring internal controls and database management
• Communicates on a daily basis with property management, asset managers, and/or property owners.
• Assists Controller, CFO, and fellow team members in all areas as needed.
• Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial Real Estate management accounting, commercial and/or multi-family experience required. 
• Experience performing lease abstracts on a regular basis strongly preferred
• Ability to query, manage, comprehend and provide analysis for large data sets and complex business documents, leases, etc. required.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
• Ability to follow-direction and work independently with minimal supervision.
•  Ability to communicate and work in a collaborative manner with a diverse team.
•  Strong work ethic and the ability to hit set deadlines.
•  Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment.

EDUCATIONAL/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in accounting, business, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and/or equivalent property accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Professional level of proficiency in computer skills including MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet / application software is required along with a willingness and ability to learn new software programs.
• Yardi property management software proficiency strongly preferred.
• Kardin property management software proficiency a plus.
• Ability to type 45-50 wpm or faster required.
• Additional coursework or related insurance industry experience a plus.
