Job Description
- Follows generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to perform a variety of accounting functions for various real estate and related service companies:
o CAM reconciliation
o Tenant billing
o Commercial property budgeting
o Lease Abstracts
o Performs monthly journal entries
o Compiles and prepares monthly financial statements
o Prepares general ledger reconciliations
o Performs monthly closing processes for properties
o Processes accounts receivables and accounts payables
o Responsible for administering accounting procedures, monitoring internal controls and database management
- Communicates on a daily basis with property management, asset managers, and/or property owners.
- Assists Controller, CFO, and fellow team members in all areas as needed.
- Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE
- Compliant with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial Real Estate management accounting, commercial and/or multi-family experience required.
- Experience performing lease abstracts on a regular basis required
- Ability to query, manage, comprehend and provide analysis for large data sets and complex business documents, leases, etc. required.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
- Ability to follow-direction and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate and work in a collaborative manner with a diverse team.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to hit set deadlines.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment.
EDUCATIONAL/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in accounting, business, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and/or equivalent property accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Professional level of proficiency in computer skills including MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and internet / application software is required along with a willingness and ability to learn new software programs.
- Yardi property management software proficiency required.
- Kardin property management software proficiency a plus.
- Ability to type 45-50 wpm or faster required.
- Additional coursework or related insurance industry experience a plus.
