SUMMARY:
The Proposal and Marketing Manager assists in the planning, coordinating, and executing marketing programs to support the company’s goals and objectives. The position works closely with the President, Chief Operating Officer, and Group Managers to develop, communicate, manage, and oversee marketing initiatives as well as develop and implement marketing strategies to ensure the company’s success. This professional will partner and act as a trusted advisor for local leaders and technical staff. The position is an expert in internet and social media strategy with a demonstrated track record.
The position must also be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing
- Support overall company and regional marketing efforts.
- Perform market research. Collect and analyze data to create a strategic market.
- Working with the Group Managers, support business development with outreach efforts, client or special events, white papers, presentation development, tradeshows, and public relations efforts, as needed.
- As needed, assist in the coordination of publicity efforts for awarded projects (groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, etc.).
- Assist in in developing region-specific general marketing collateral, hand-outs, and promotional materials, as needed.
- Develop project stories and client testimonials content for marketing material, as needed.
- Oversee proper use of Company style guidelines and branding.
- Manage all social media accounts.
- Prepare and develop graphics and/or video for social media.
- Track, recommend, and prepare submissions for industry awards.
Proposal Responsibilities
- Independently lead and manage multiple proposal pursuit efforts, including tracking and monitoring both current and upcoming pursuits.
- Review and interpret RFPs, addressing key elements with the pursuit team.
- Facilitate with theme development and utilizes a theme-based approach for the development of proposal and presentation efforts.
- Develop and drive the proposal management schedule, establish priorities, document and track team task assignments, and keep those involved accountable to internal and external deadlines.
- Initiate and lead pursuit proposal team activities and meetings.
- Develop kick-off and other meeting agendas.
- Develop, manage, research, and respond to data requests.
- Facilitate quality reviews.
- Drive and ensure RFP compliance/requirements.
- Ensure timely proposal production and delivery.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the company, the individual service groups, staff capabilities, regular subconsultants, client and competitor details to assist the Technical Pursuit Team in creating the most strategically positioned and technically competent team to win the work.
- Write new text and/or tailors existing materials, which may include interviewing staff/technical experts.
- Regularly perform quality reviews on final or near-final documents.
- Perform quality control reviews of other marketing staff’s responses to RFPs and RFQs as requested.
- Develop, write, edit, and proofread copy for proposals, presentations, resumes, project descriptions, and related marketing materials of a complex nature.
- Update marketing materials, including resumes, project descriptions, and qualification packages.
- Assemble and prepare all documentation using the Branding & Style Guidelines.
- Provide regular status reports to leadership related to proposal pursuit metrics and outcomes; performs analysis to identify trends and suggests improvement
- Able to hold others accountable to schedules.
- May train or mentor Marketing and Proposal Coordinators.
- Prepare and develop graphics.
Proposal Interview Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to successfully respond to short-list interviews (prepare PowerPoint presentations and produce hand-outs, coach project team on successful interviewing and Q&A techniques).
- Participate in pre-interview planning and presentation rehearsal with design teams and help develop and apply the established win strategy, themes, and discriminators in presentation materials.
- Lead the pursuit team through the presentation development and interview preparation process. Develop or offer suggestions for persuasive, strategic, and compelling messaging, converting text to images/diagrams that will resonate with the viewers. Prepare presentation as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other work-related duties and special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communication, business, public relations, advertising, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in marketing or public relations, preferably in the engineering or construction industry, or a minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in marketing, communication, or a related field, preferably in the engineering or construction industry.
