Purpose of Job
Responsible for drawing loan closing documents during the completion of real estate transactions. Prepares, verifies and sends documents to the appropriate parties and ensures all loans close in accordance with bank, investor, and regulatory guidelines. Calculates the final figures and assembles documents needed to close mortgage loans to ensure terms of the transaction are met prior to funding. Coordinates all aspects of the loan closing process for various real estate loan products.
Job Requirements
- Works under limited supervision to prepare closing packages and close a variety of real estate loans.
- Sets member expectations for loan closings.
- Maintains communication and addresses questions from closing agents, internal and external partners to communicate loan status, and serves as the USAA point of contact for the title company and at the mortgage closing table to answer questions regarding closing requirements.
- Collaborates with team members to resolve issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
- May initiate outbound calls to title companies to obtain all documents required for closing and funding including title commitment, fees, etc Ensures all required documentation is in compliance with state and federal regulations with a focus on RESPA compliance and Truth in Lending.
- Reviews and approves the title commitment, ensures title work is clear of liens, judgments and encroachments, and communicates the final clear to close.
- Enters closing information into the loan origination system to create loan documents, and sends closing instructions.
- Participates in testing efforts, process improvement pilots, and projects.
- Represents the department in task observations and assists the department with change.
- Reviews and approves the HUD-1 Settlement Statement.
- Ensures fees, names, amounts, account conditions, seller concessions, taxes, payoffs, etc, are accurate.
Minimum Experience:
- Current Real Estate closing/funder contractor located in Tampa handling an existing funding pipeline
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- 2 or more years of real estate lending related experience required
Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required
Preferred Experience:
- At least 6 months as a USAA Contractor within Real Estate Closing/funding
- Leadership skills and ability to help others as a subject matter expert
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent time management skills to include ability to prioritize multiple tasks and efficiently maintain a pipeline of active loans
- Excellent communication skills
