Position Summary

The Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting qualified candidates to join The Florida Aquarium team and providing pre-onboarding support for the Human Resources department. They will coordinate workforce engagement programs and activities throughout the employee life cycle to increase team member engagement and support the organizational culture.

Essential Position Functions

  • Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals
  • Review employment applications and resumes, conduct preliminary interviews, and make recommendations to hiring managers
  • Works with hiring managers to coordinate interviews, reference checks, and necessary accommodations
  • Coordinate with outside staffing agencies to secure temporary employees, based on departmental needs
  • Supports the onboarding process by conducting background and drug screening for candidates that are pre-onboarding
  • Assists Workforce Development Specialist with the onboarding process and new employee orientations as needed
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
  • Assists with the coordination of events and projects associated with our cultural development, such as DEAI initiatives, and rewards and recognition program— including birthday cards, new employee welcome gifts, and thank you notes
  • Coordinates and arranges a variety of engagement activities, from concept to clean up, that drive employee engagement and development
  • Maintains a directory of engagement materials and supplies
  • Assists the Workforce Development Specialist with the implementation of various large employee events that support engagement and culture.
  • Assesses engagement activities to ensure employee understanding, satisfaction, and budget alignment
  • Supports organizational culture and strategic plan
  • Collaborates with HR Team on various research projects and special projects
  • Delivers extraordinary customer service to all Aquarium guests and internal customers
  • Develops and maintains and on-going understanding of both internal and external customer service
  • Assists with administrative duties to include generating reports, creating business correspondence, forms, and other documents; sorting and distributing mail and answering phones, ensures compliance with local and state laws: such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements and Technical Skills

  • Two years of college preferred
  • Two years of administrative experience preferred
  • Experience in human resources environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems preferred
  • Spanish bilingual a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
