TALLAHASSEE — Florida businesses are poised to add nearly 200,000 nonagricultural jobs in 2013, according to a Florida Chamber Foundation report.

The forecast from the foundation, a research arm of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, uses a combination of factors, including housing metrics, manufacturing delivery times, and consumer confidence, according to a release.

“Florida’s employment picture looks much brighter in 2013 as employers are likely to create more jobs when compared to last year,” Florida Chamber Foundation Research and Policy Manager Rick Sessa says in the release. “While federal budget sequestration and job quality will be continuing challenges, the recovery is likely to feel more robust for job seekers in the year ahead.”

The foundation points out, however, the state is still missing about 500,000 jobs compared to pre-recession employment levels. Jobs are beginning to come back though. For example, Florida’s non-farm employers added 55,000 new jobs in the first quarter this year, more than double the 27,400 jobs added in the last quarter of 2012, according to the release.
