Job Purpose:
Generates profits by building and exploiting customer base; developing and implementing organizational and operating policies, plans, procedures, and systems; merchandising products; directing staff.
Duties:
* Accomplishes department store human resource strategies by determining department accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation strategies.
* Develops department store organizational strategies and plans by developing strategic thinking and direction; evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies.
* Develops financial strategies and plans by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; measuring and analyzing inventories, inventory shrinkage, profit margins, pricing policies, and expenses; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances; monitoring cash controls.
* Develops customer service by identifying and analyzing customer needs; delivering core services; monitoring and evaluating service delivery; promoting personal care; interceding to resolve especially difficult problems; maintaining a service culture; reviewing customer service training programs; exploring new service opportunities; monitoring sales-returns process.
* Maintains department store operations by preparing and enforcing policies and procedures; developing and monitoring merchandise and supplies ordering systems; completing information systems requirements; directing completion and maintenance of building systems and housekeeping; implementing and testing security systems; developing and testing emergency systems and evacuation plans.
* Merchandises products by establishing company image; directing and approving merchandising plans and point-of-sale (POS) advertising; analyzing sales; overseeing seasonal changes; initiating special events; reviewing and analyzing customer feedback; maintaining web-based services.
* Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by understanding and enforcing adherence to requirements.
* Updates job knowledge by visiting competitors’ stores; attending trade shows; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
