The mission of Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is “to connect people with the living earth.” We strive to do so by operating the Zoo in accordance with the highest professional standards of conservation, education, research and recreation, and by serving as a resource for the community regarding conservation and environmental matters affecting animals and habitats, both locally and throughout the world. Position Summary:
The Retail Representative provides outstanding guest service and assists the retail department in contributing to the mission of the Zoo. Responsible for daily operations of all retail functions and locations including assisting guests with merchandise inquiries, upselling items and promoting feeding experiences at the register, cash handling, phone queries, set-up of remote carts, selling of adoption packages, as well as maintaining the stock, appearance, and cleanliness of all gift shops. The individual is flexible and accommodates ever-changing job responsibilities and business needs.

Essential Functions (Including, but not limited to):
Provides exemplary guest service as outlined by department guidelines and training.

Accurately handles payment transactions through the use of a cash register and/or computer while adhering to designated cash handling guidelines.

Communicates effectively with guests in order to assist with sales and reach established sales goals.

Assists in receiving, pricing, and stocking of store inventory.

Provides general information and responds guest queries.

Politely and diplomatically enforces established animal experience procedures and protocols.

Maintains cleanliness and organization of retail locations and surrounding areas.

Manages large groups and crowds in a manner consistent with department guidelines.

Follows established guidelines to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

All other duties as assigned.

Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.

Qualifications:
A high school or equivalency diploma preferred.

Skills and Experience:
The ability to perform exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

One year of retail and/or customer service experience preferred.

Computer and/or POS experience preferred.

Cash handling experience preferred.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The ability to work with minimal supervision.

Effective time management and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements:
The ability to stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to work within a designated break schedule.

Must be able to withstand typical Florida climate.

Must have physical endurance for long, high volume days.

Reaching and minor lifting (up to 15 pounds.)

The ability to communicate clearly with the general public.

Manual dexterity for cash handling, use of keyboard/mouse, filing, etc.
