Job Description
The Technical Support Specialist will support all necessary technology implementations and updates to the system, maintaining voice/data/audio/video, ensure proper installations (including configurations and troubleshooting), and providing exceptional customer service support to all internal customers (users) and external customers and vendors.
The Florida State Fair takes place Thursday, April 22, 2021 through May 2, 2021. Start dates for work are varied.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation of additions, changes, relocations, and updates to the Florida State Fair Authority’s computer, security, and telephone systems hardware, software and communications components. This will include the configuration of desktop, laptop, and wireless, and wireless mobile computer systems, wired and wireless network devices, operating systems, servers, the Florida State Fair ticketing system and all related electronic components.
- Implementation of the Florida State Fair Authority’s standards for software, particularly with respect of all business productivity software, anti-virus, personal firewalls, security updates, etc.
- Implementation and monitoring compliance of computer systems policies and procedures regarding use and security measures under direction of the Director of Information Technology/Network Manager.
- Assist in the specification and installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of amplifiers, mixers, speakers, microphones, etc.
- Assist in the installation and certification of CAT5/CAT6/COAX/Fiber data wiring.
- Installation and service of other low voltage wiring for sound and security systems. Keep records of all installs/moves/changes.
- Maintain audio, telecom, datacom, security and consumables equipment inventory.
- Other related work as required, which will include, but not be limited to, technology and communications related tasks and disaster recovery duties.
- Must be available to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
FAIR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation, configuration, and certification of the automated ticket system event programming, workstations, printers, cameras, wireless scanners, servers, and vendor coordination related to the system.
- Installation or relocation, configuration, and customization of workstations for fair-time only employees.
- Assist with Credentials operations printing of tickets and badges within the automated ticket system.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Experience and Skills
EDUCATION: HS Diploma required.
EXPERIENCE: Ability to install wiring, audio equipment, video equipment, network equipment (both wired and wireless). Installation and support of Microsoft Windows 10 workstations, Microsoft Office products, Antivirus, printers, peripherals, etc. required.
SKILLS:
- Ability to receive, organize, plan and complete complex work assignments in a timely fashion.
- Strong skills in property utilizing diagnostic hardware and software.
- Support of Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office products, Antivirus, etc.
- Strong ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenched to lay conduit, as well as moving and lifting heavy objects, such as coils of cable.
- Installation and maintenance of low voltage wiring (audio, video, CAT5/6, fiber, etc.)
- Installation of telephones, network gear, audio gear and security cameras and battery backups.
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, scissor lifts, straight boom and articulating man lifts to install, maintain or repair wiring and equipment.
- Ability to lift and install equipment up to 40lbs.
- Must be able to operate courteously under pressure.
- Strong customer orientation.
Duties are performed both indoor and outdoor. Operates computers and servers, network equipment, battery backups, cabling and other various standard office equipment such as telephone and copiers/printers. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear and routinely lift or move (more than 40 pounds). Environmental elements include some exposure to wetness or humidity, work near mechanical parts, work in high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures (non-weather), risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation.
