The leader in this position will be part of a world-class team responsible for the security of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. The Security Manager is responsible for leading, motivating, and directing a diverse team of Security hourly Cast Members in a variety of operational and at times specialized responsibilities. The leader must have the ability to think on their feet, adapt quickly to changing situations, and implement an operational plan in very short time frames. The ability to develop and maintain relationships with operational, investigative, law enforcement, and senior leadership partners is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate the security mission, vision and related strategies to his/her team, and execute the respective plans within their area of responsibility.
  • Execute plans through active onstage leadership within a dynamically changing environment, including the flexible deployment of resources based on both routine and evolving operational priorities and emergency situations.
  • Directly engage with Security Cast to provide the direction, expectations, information, and resources needed to deliver on the mission to serve and protect while achieving the highest level of guest service.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative and productive workplace environment by quickly identifying, engaging in and resolving conflicts, fostering trust, and making recommendations for cast relations decisions.
  • Make decisive, sound, high quality decisions on tactical security issues, accurately judging the urgency, response, and need for further escalation.
  • Review metrics to continuously monitor operating procedures, training, and team and individual performance.
  • Build and maintain superior relationships with peers, business partners and supporting law enforcement personnel. Foster these relationships through inclusion, information sharing and teamwork.
  • Develop and grow team members thru mentoring, coaching, developmental opportunities and feedback.
  • Be a role model in the development of a culture of safety.
  • Communicate operational information trends to peers or other teams, elevating significant information and issues to senior leaders.
  • Review daily workload and scheduled labor to ensure operational needs are met.
  • Support Security Leadership Team with implementation of Security Special Services and/or Security & Emergency Services strategies as directed.
  • Complete required documentation of incidents/situations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more consecutive years of Military, Law Enforcement, First Responder, Corrections, or similar security experience.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to execute the operations, services, and activities of a security team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Assertive and proactive in identifying and resolving conflicts, issues, and concerns.
  • Builds strong relationships – works with others in a collaborative, integrated manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strong Guest Service, particularly in difficult situations; regularly provides appropriate Service recovery.
  • Effective communicator (exceptional written and verbal skills).
  • Ability to work with a dynamic and diverse Cast team is essential.
  • Proven experience in successful team building and a passion for customer service.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency within the Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in an emergency situation.
  • Developed ability to prioritize daily tasks, operational demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with scheduling practices and collective bargaining agreement environment.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including all shifts, weekends, and Holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Walt Disney World property and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others and engage Cast effectively (demonstrates Four Keys Leader Basics).
  • First responder skills/experience.
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Prior Security, Law Enforcement, Military or comparable experience.
  • Project Management skills – ability to develop and deliver on project plan.
  • Knowledge of security technical practices including access control, emergency preparedness, crisis management, canine programs, intelligence, security technologies, surveillance or behavioral assessment.

Required Education

  • • High school degree or equivalent.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or similar Security related field.
