Job Description:  The Senior Accountant’s primary responsibilities are to prepare/review monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, to oversee the accounts payable team, assist with monthly management reporting and effectively coach staff.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with month-end close process including the accurate and timely recording of income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis in accordance with IFRS requirements
  • Reviews and posts journal entries
  • Reviews and approves monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly journal entries
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assists with monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management
  • Supervises accounts payable and general ledger staff, providing effective mentoring and coaching
  • Works with Accounting Manager on various initiatives
  • Completes ad-hoc requests

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION: BA or BS in accounting
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years financial experience in a primarily commercial environment (public accounting experience is a plus) and at least 2 years of management experience

Skills/Knowledge:

  • CPA Preferred
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and have knowledge depth in complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and very strong verbal/written communication skills are required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good time management skills; ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Successfully perform under pressure in a heavy volume environment
  • Ability to cultivate a positive team atmosphere in order to drive success
