Summary/Objective

As a Senior Accountant at Validus Senior Living, you will be responsible for supporting a broad spectrum of accounting functions, as well as basic payroll and billing functions, as assigned. As a member of the Finance Team, you will be handling all transactional functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will assist our financial operations in support of our communities.


Essential Functions

  • Assists in the monthly closing and financial reporting process as directed by the controller
  • Performs extensive financial analysis of balance sheets, and thoroughly reviews account activity and balances for accuracy
  • Monitoring and processing vendor invoices from designated communities for payment and accuracy; creating and generating financial reports
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately including preparing managerial reports and general ledgers
  • Reconciliation of accounts
  • Being a subject matter expert in support of community operations, specific to financial accountability including AR, AP, Payroll and Billing
  • Facilitating requirements, gathering with development team members and stakeholders
  • Providing weekly status updates and coordinating change control protocols
  • Testing and validating developed features against requirements
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Supports daily financial operations as required and assists with year-end financial audit activities

Work Environment

Works in a well-lighted area that is ventilated and is physically, physiologically and psychologically innocuous as possible under the conditions which exist at any particular time. On occasion, there may be exposure to outdoor spaces, which will, by their nature, have variances in air quality, temperature, walking surfaces, lighting, and other physical aspects.

Certifications, Licenses, Education, Experience and other Special Requirements

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business OR an Associate’s Degree with several years of experience comparable to the Accounting role is required. 3 years of accounting experience is preferred, but not required. The Senior Accountant should possess strong verbal and written skills as well as exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced computer and technology competency is required. Must exhibit proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with applicant tracking databases is highly preferred. Additionally, the senior accountant will have strong planning and organization skills with a demonstrated record of balancing multiple priorities. The ability to operate strategically with a high sense of urgency, focused on delivering quality and results.
