Senior Accountant – Property & Casualty Division
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting the P&C division in all accounting and reporting functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· General ledger responsibilities
Prepare standard monthly journal entries
Complete monthly closing guide for applicable subsidiaries
Ensure internal controls are followed and appropriate documentation is maintained as mandated by Sarbanes Oxley
· Prepare assigned statutory financial statements and related footnotes
· Assist with preparation of Supplementary Statutory filings
· Complete monthly reconciliations as assigned
· Prepare assigned audit work papers and assist with audit requests
· Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing loss information and trends
· Assist senior management with calculation of IBNR
· Perform Ad-hoc reporting and analyses as required
· Provide assistance and backup to other areas in finance and accounting
· Assist and support GAAP reporting
· Update job knowledge by participating in educational and professional development opportunities
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Detail oriented, committed to professionalism
· Team oriented, proactive approach to all situations
· GP Dynamics and FRx Financial Report Writer experience preferred
· eFreedom experience preferred
· Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry with in-depth knowledge of statutory reporting
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel and Access
EDUCATION & TRAINING
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA preferred.
