Gerdau is currently seeking a Senior Internal Auditor for its Tampa, FL Corporate offices.

The Internal Audit Senior is responsible for conducting audits for management to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, compliance with applicable laws and regulations and efficiency and improvement of internal operations (financial and operational processes). Additional responsibility’s will include assisting with documentation and assessment of our internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance as well as the organization and execution of Sarbanes Oxley controls evaluation as it relates to the internal process and control environment. This position may also play a supporting role in assisting our external auditing firm during annual audits.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Audit planning (proper staffing and scheduling of audits)
  • Point person at audit location
  • Assist in developing audit programs.
  • Coach Staff Auditors as needed with questions, issues, etc.
  • Review of workpapers  prepared by Staff Auditors.
  • Educate audit staff regarding various Company processes and related audit procedures.
  • Perform financial, compliance, and operational audits of all Company activities.
  • Perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting processes and procedures.
  • Identifies, develops,  and documents audit issues and recommendations.
  • Prepare first draft of audit report.
  • Perform special investigative projects at the request of Management.
  • Ensure audits are in compliance with IIA standards
  • Perform documentation relating to Sarbanes-Oxley 404 (SOX) requirements.
  • Conduct and perform first reviews of applicable SOX testing activities in a manner that affords the company’s auditors the optimal opportunity to place reliance on the work of internal audit.
  • Work in close coordination with the external auditors of Company.
  • Willing to travel up to 40% of the year, approximately 7-9 trips per year (Canada and U.S.).

­Qualifications include:

  • Operationally and financially oriented with experience dealing with control and risk issues in a manufacturing, preferably steel industry, environment.
  • A minimum of­­ 3 to five years of applicable audit, SOX/compliance and/or finance related experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of client facing­ service and financial audit experience.
  • BS / BA in applicable field required.
  • CPA, CIA, or chartered equivalent, preferred or actively pursuing.
  • Personal / professional skills and stature to quickly gain respect and build strong working relationships not only at the senior levels of the Company but throughout the organization. Yet, ability to stand alone.
  • Proven analytical abilities – inductive and deductive.  Clear evidence of success in relating the strategic and operational aspect of business operations.
  • Attention to detail and proven project management skills
  • SAP preferred
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
